Whilst a buzz word in sustainability amongst the giants for the food and drinks industry, there’s nothing new about regenerative farming, it’s a collection of techniques that when practised should:
✓ Build biodiversity (especially predators). ✓ Reduce nitrogen leakage. ✓ Reduce carbon leakage to atmosphere. ✓ Improve moisture retention. ✓ Build soil health and crop resilience. ✓ Reduce soil erosion. ✓ Reduce the requirements for pesticides. ✓ Reduce diesel usage in farm equipment.
Regenerative Agriculture Mandatory activities: 1. Rotation - a minimum of three different crops in five harvests. 2. Cultivation - fields must not be cultivated using inversion techniques, specifically ploughing. 3. Cover cropping – a species rich cover crop must be planted ahead of each spring barley crop and left for a minimum of 4 months. 4. Pesticides - use must be targeted, site specific and the aim should be for use to be reduced over time. 5. Fertiliser – use of organic and inorganic fertiliser must not exceed field and crop demand

Muntons is rated above average for supply chain engagement by the Carbon Disclosure Programme against an industry average of grade C. We are also in the top 5% of companies globally in the EcoVadis rating which gained us a Platinum Medal
